A little Greek and a little redneck

Sunday we attended a wedding for our friend's Stefan and Jessie. They are both Greek Orthodox so the wedding was a first for me. The church was beautiful.

The ceremony was so unique and interesting to watch. They had no instruments at all, but the priest along with a choir sang the whole ceremony. Seriously, the Priest sang every word.  I wonder if you have to have a nice voice to become a Priest for the Greek Orthodox religion? The guests stood throughout the whole hour long service. They had several neat parts of the service such as the crowning, drinking wine, and being led by the Priest to walk around the table several times. It was definitely a unique and special wedding.

Here are a few photo's from the wedding. Somehow I didn't even get a picture of the bride and groom?! What the heck is wrong with me!?

About to leave for the wedding

Monday was Memorial Day which usually means cookout and pool. We started it off with a cook out with Matt's family which was nice. Afterwards, we headed to our friends Miller and Bethany's house to grill out and later went to the pool. This is where the "little redneck" comes in. We live in Alabama, remember!? Don't be judgin'.

Here's the guys's getting their tan on

tailgating in the driveway...oh yeahhhh

we play in the sprinklers, yes we do
Overall, this weekend was great and I am sad to say it is now over. I think I now have a case of the Monday's being back at work...Oh wait, it is Tuesday.

Memorial Day Weekend Part 1

Truth be told I have had a rough and stressful week. Realizing that I have more than 3 readers now (just a few more but still...) which I would like to keep as my followers, I didn't want to be a negative Nancy and write blogs moaning and groaning. No one likes to hear that stuff! So instead, I took a hiatus from blogging until I had something more upbeat and positive to post about.  With that being said, this 3 day weekend has been just what the doctor ordered. Now, If only he ordered a few more days off.....

So Friday we kicked the Memorial Day weekend off with a trip to the movies with some friends. We saw The Hangover 2 and it was hilarious! If you thought the first Hangover was raunchy and inappropriate though, I would not recommend the sequel. It was worse than the first! Very funny, but dirty! I felt embarrassed for both the parents and group of teenagers who came into watch the movie together, pretty sure they were regretting seeing it together afterwards. I am an adult and would have been embarrassed to have seen it with my parents! No offense mom and dad!

Saturday while the boys played golf (very unusual I know) the girls headed to the pool. We had such a nice time relaxing and soaking up the rays.  Laying by the pool is one of my favorite summertime activities. If laying on a chair counts as an activity!

That night we went to our friends Phoenix and Oj's house to grill out. Another favorite summertime event. Nothing feels more like summer is here than sitting outside grilling out. Afterwards we did a little Just Dance again. Can you tell we are addicted??

It was a great relaxing first half to the weekend....second half wrap up to come!

I'll be your cart girl...

This morning we had an early (noon) wedding which we went to. It was one of Matt's co-workers and it was lovely. Too bad I only took one picture.  Here ya go:
Yes, my photography skills are remarkable.

After the wedding, which was over pretty early, I thought I would be a good wifey and go with the hubs to the golf course. It was such a beautiful day and I didn't want to be inside, so riding around the golf cart drinking a couple cold ones and reading my nook (book) sounded pretty nice to me. And it was.

Matt is a huge golfer, so I am pretty used to the golf widow syndrome. Which basically means anytime there is nice weather on the weekend between February-November, he is on the course. I have attempted to play a little myself, but to be honest I am about as good at it as Charles Barkley is.  But I want to get back out and try it again soon.

Matt played today with his dad and two brothers, and I cheered from the cart. Oh wait, your not supposed to yell in Golf?

Attempting to hit the ball. Keep your eye on the ball. Keep your eye on the ball.

Do I look like I know what I am doing. Yeah that's right, I don't.

This guy does though.

Matt teeing off. Go Matt! Oh yeah, that keep quiet thing....

It ended up being a good time, I am glad I came and I am sure that Matt was too, of course. ;)
He did win, maybe I am his good luck charm??

Just Dance Attempt #2

If you haven't had the opportunity to play Just Dance 2, you are missing out! A few months ago I tried playing it on the wii with some of my friends, and since I was injured at the time, I think I did not meet my full "Just Dance" potential. Aka-- I sucked and got beat every time.

Still, the game is a blast as you pick a different song which has a different corresponding dance to it which you try to simulate as you play another player. It is a great workout and is so much fun at the same time! Last night we decided to have round 2 and I thought it was redemption time.  Redemption was made as a I won several rounds. Yeah Yeah!

Phoenix and Amanda

hahahaha!

Mitch was such a sport and tried it out with us girls

Phoenix and I

In the beginning, we reverted back to 8th grade when the girls were all upstairs playing and the guys downstairs refusing to join us. We finally went down to try to persuade the guys to play.

The guys (other than Mitch as you saw previously) were very reluctant until we had some of this...

It only took a few shots before this happened:

Of course us girls still dominated, but it was hilarious to see the guys attempt to beat us. They were good sports. Maybe next time guys.
